Diagnostic Blood Test:

  • Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
  • Free Thyroxine (FT4)

Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH) is an important marker for thyroid health which governs energy and metabolism. TSH acts as a signal that tells the thyroid when to produce more thyroid hormone. Abnormal thyroid levels may result in weight changes, heart rate changes, sleeping problems, hair loss, anxiety, or fatigue.

Thyroxine or T4 is an inactive thyroid hormone produced by the thyroid gland. The liver and other tissues convert T4 into the active T3 thyroid hormone, which drives metabolism. Measuring FT4 levels can help detect thyroid problems that can lead to changes in weight, mood, or heart rate.
Free Thyroxine (FT4) is a measure of unbound thyroxine (T4) that is available to the body’s tissues.

Note: This test may exhibit interference when sample is collected from a person who is consuming a supplement with a high dose of biotin. Cease biotin supplementation at least 72 hours prior to blood draw.
