About this test

What's tested
  • Estradiol E2 via Electrochemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA)

This test measures estradiol (E2) using Electrochemiluminescence Immunoassay (ECLIA), a standard method primarily used for assessing fertility in women of reproductive age. While suitable for general monitoring, ECLIA may be less precise at lower concentrations due to cross-reactivity and detection limits. For more accurate measurement in men and postmenopausal women, Estradiol, Sensitive (LC/MS) is recommended.

Why consider this test?

Estradiol (E2) is the principal estrogen in both men and women, influencing fertility, metabolism, cardiovascular health, and neurological function. Imbalances may contribute to erectile dysfunction, low libido, gynecomastia (male breast tissue growth), hair loss, reduced muscle strength, or fatigue.

ECLIA testing is intended for routine testing for women of childbearing age

LC/MS testing provides greater precision, particularly in men, postmenopausal women, and individuals with lower estradiol levels.

Total & Free Estradiol (LC/MS + Equilibrium Dialysis) offers the most detailed view of estradiol activity, assessing both bound and free forms for a complete hormone profile.

Does Marek Diagnostics accept insurance?

Marek Diagnostics is a cash-pay service. Our platform offers direct access to comprehensive testing without the limitations, denials, or delays imposed by insurance companies. If traditional insurance covered the kind of proactive, high-quality lab work we offer, Marek Diagnostics wouldn’t need to exist.

However, many clients successfully use their HSA/FSA to cover their testing costs. Marek Diagnostics is partnered with TrueMed for convenient deployment of HSA/FSA funds at checkout.
